Anna Maria Island’s Local Coffee Shops You Don’t Want to Miss

When you’re vacationing on Anna Maria Island, it’s easy to fill your entire day with exciting activities. But before you can head out and enjoy the sites, you’ll need to fuel up! Whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy breakfast in Anna Maria Island or you want an afternoon pick-me-up, there are several unique coffee houses across AMI for you to visit.

While you’re checking out the local restaurants and trying to decide where to get delivery from, don’t forget to check out the island’s coffee shops, too. Here are a few of our favorites!

Island Coffee Haus, LLC

Island Coffee Haus dubs themselves “the hub of Anna Maria Island,” and that’s a fair title! The shop was opened in 2012 by Beverly Kilpatrick, and ever since the beginning, this shop has been a favorite establishment of locals and visitors alike. Beverly gained a passion for coffee during her time living in the Azores of Portugal. Once she returned to the U.S., she moved to Tampa and worked in a few coffee shops, but she never found that experience she first discovered in Portugal. So, she moved to Anna Maria Island and decided to create that experience herself!

Today, Island Coffee Haus is a local staple offering up a huge selection of drinks and pastries. Their coffee is a mixture of Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Columbian beans, providing a unique flavor you’ve never gotten anywhere else! You can purchase any espresso drink hot or iced, just the way you like it. Not in the mood for coffee? Try a tea or smoothie! To pair with your drink, you can grab an item from the bakery like a cinnamon bun, bagel, brownie, or any other sweet you can think of, as well as healthier items like a protein plate or “mermaid oats!”

If that wasn’t enough, you can also visit the Island Coffee Haus for your souvenir shopping! They carry a rotating selection of unique products and artwork from local vendors, providing something unique every time you walk in the door. You can browse the jewelry and signs, get a special takeout mug, or even find a custom skateboard! Island Coffee Haus truly has it all.

Island Coffee Haus is located at 5350 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open daily starting at 7 a.m.

Ginny’s & Jane E’s Café and Gift Store

Looking for a spot to get the best Anna Maria Island coffee while indulging in that “Old Florida” experience? Come out to Ginny’s & Jane E’s Café and Gift Store. The store gets its name from the two sisters that started the venture. Ginny had owned an antique in Holmes Beach right here on Anna Maria Island, and though Jane didn’t have a business of her own, she had always loved to cook and bake. They decided to put their heads and talents together, and when they realized the town’s old IGA store was sitting vacant, they bought it, and the rest is history.

Patrons love visiting Ginny’s & Jane E’s for all their coffee and bakery cravings. All of your classic coffee house drinks are available here, from lattes and cappuccinos to breves and Americanos. You can personalize your drink to your liking with whatever type of milk or extra flavoring you please. For the non-coffee drinkers in your group, you can select a hot tea, a fresh made smoothie, or a delicious juice. They also offer up bakery classics like cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, pies, and cakes, as well as a full breakfast and lunch menu!

Remember that Ginny’s & Jane E’s is twofold: in addition to the café, they have a huge gift shop for you to browse. Their gift shop is full of unique offerings like jewelry, clothing, handmade art, and everything else you could want to remember your travels by. Additionally, you can pick up any beach supplies you might have forgotten, such as sunscreen, flip flops, sunglasses, hats, and more. This shop is your all-in-one destination for starting your day!

Back Alley Treasures

Whether you want a souvenir, a coffee, or a hard drink, Back Alley Treasures has you covered. This establishment is a family-owned and operated business run by couple Travis and Heather, along with their two kids, Brianna and Malia. This business is now one of the most popular coffee shops on Anna Maria Island.

On the menu at Back Alley Treasures, you’ll find all kinds of café favorites. You can get something as simple as their medium roast house blend or go for something more unique like a blended frappe. The Donut Experiment

donuts

A coffee shop typically sounds like a place that adults would enjoy, but if you want a place to grab a great cup of coffee and make sure the whole family is satisfied, come to The Donut Experiment! This location allows you to make your very own donut and pair it with a delicious cup of coffee. The Donut Experiment started in 2012 by Owners Shawn and Cecilia Wampole. They came to AMI from Philadelphia and were surprised to find the island didn’t have a donut shop. After a lot of considering and crunching numbers, they decided to move to Florida and start Anna Maria Donuts, which has evolved into The Donut Experiment!

Here, you can create your perfect donut, which is perfect for large families where everyone wants something different. Each order starts with a fresh cake donut, which you can then top with the icing of your choice, from classics like glaze or chocolate to special varieties like maple. Then, it’s time for the toppings. Go simple with sprinkles or be bold with bacon! If you’re really feeling adventurous, select a specialty donut like Key lime or Sriracha!

To wash it all down, you can get a delicious cup of coffee. Their classic brew is a great cup all on its own, or if you need something stronger, get an espresso. You can also choose a cappuccino, hot or iced latte, or a cold-brewed ice coffee. No matter which beverage you pick, it’s sure to be the perfect complement to your decadent donut!

The Donut Experiment is located at 210C Pine Avenue. They are open daily from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.
