Closest Beach to Check Out

While you’re staying at the Anna Maria Beach Resort, you’ll want to check out one of Anna Maria islands infamous white sand beaches. The closest one you will find is Manatee Public Beach. Located on gulf drive, this is one of the area’s most popular beaches. You’ll be sure to find everything you’re looking for in a day spent in the sun if you head here. 

This beach stretches 900 feet around the island and features some of that wonderful white sand that Anna Maria Island is known for. The clear blue water is great for going for a quick swim and provides a refreshing cool-off on those hot days. Aside from the average beach aspects, manatee beach also has tons of amenities for you to check out. There are playgrounds, volleyball courts, and even a gift shop. Spending the day here is also safe and simple thanks to the lifeguards on duty and the full bathroom facilities on site. 

Manatee Beach is super easy to get to as well. There are three easy points of access and free parking too. This spot is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. 

Head to Marina Drive

If you’ve already taken your beach day or are looking to do a little bit of shopping then Marina Drive is the place you’ll want to be. It’s a prime area to pop into some shops and grab a bite to eat after a long day. 

Check out spots like the Island Grill, Duffy’s Tavern, or the Ugly Grouper for top of the line island bites. Choose from anything on the menus of the many restaurants you’ll find along this street. You’ll have choices of fresh seafood, American style pub food, pizza, and more. 

You’ll also find some fantastic shops. If you’re into art make sure to stop by the Artists Guild Gallery. If you’re thinking of going fishing, you’ll find what you need on Marina Drive as well. Families With Young Kids Love Herb Dolan Park

A wonderful spot for family activities is the Herb Dolan Park. Located in the Bradenton Beach portion of the island, you’ll find this special park directly on the Anna Maria Sound. It features everything from a playground to basketball courts and even a large baseball field. This is the perfect spot to grab some sports toys and spend the day running around with the little ones.

Go Kayaking For Outdoor Adventure 

Kayaking is a fun and unique way to see much of the island by taking its beautiful waterways. Kayak rentals are easy to find on any part of the island and there are endless areas to explore. Neal Preserve is a favorite spot for kayakers of all skill levels. Here you’ll find mangrove forests, salt terns, and more. This is one of the best areas to explore by kayak if you’re hoping to spot some wildlife!
