With multiple locations throughout the region, Poppo’s Taqueria has managed to make itself a community staple, and for good reason! From the very first bite, you’ll taste the love and care that’s placed into every single dish. All ingredients here are fresh and whole, chips are made to order, and tortillas are pressed by hand.

You have complete freedom to craft your dish just the way you like it from the menu. Whether you’re in the mood for a burrito, taco, or quesadillas, you can personalize it with your choice of protein and other toppings. This shop has it all, from jewelry and postcards to handmade artwork, one-of-a-kind shells, home décor items, and more. 

While the gift shop is incredible, we’re here to talk about food! The breakfast and lunch menus here help you make sure your day starts out on the right foot. Come in for a delicious bagel, breakfast sandwich, breakfast wrap or burrito, pancakes, waffles, and more in the morning. At lunchtime, you can grab a quick sandwich or settle down with a salad or soup. Be sure to stop by the café to get a smoothie, coffee, or baked good too!

Anna Maria Island Beach Café

Are you looking for something laid-back with a great view of the water? Don’t miss a stop at the Anna Maria Island Beach Café! Here, you’ll find live entertainment, a vast menu with something for everyone to sample, and a welcoming staff dedicated to making you feel right at home. Best of all, you’ll be set up on the beach, so you can head down to the shore right after you’re done eating.

On the menu, you’ll find almost anything you could imagine. In the morning, go for an omelet, waffle, Fresh toast, or egg dish. Lunch is the perfect time to try a signature platter, an Island salad, a sandwich, or a wrap. In the evening, munch on some mouthwatering fish tacos, get a fresh seafood platter or enjoy a land option like the Philly steak or the chicken tenders. The possibilities are endless! 

Anna Maria Island Beach Café is located at 4000 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Sandbar

If you’re looking for a restaurant that keeps the environment in mind, The Sandbar is the place to be. The Sandbar is dedicated to always using eco-friendly practices in the gathering and preparing their ingredients, so you can get a delicious meal that you feel great about eating. They also often donate a portion of profits to a worthy cause for an added bonus!

The menu options here are truly unique and are simply mouthwatering. Menu offerings can change depending on the season, but lately, guests love dishes like stuffed shrimp, grilled octopus, shrimp and gnocchi, and New York Strip. Got a vegetarian or vegan in your group? A vegan burger is an incredible option! 

The Sandbar is located at 100 Spring Avenue in Anna Maria. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rod & Reel Pier

One of the most popular Anna Maria Island family-friendly restaurants is Rod & Reel Pier, an area staple since it first opened in 1947. Located on the north end of the island, this restaurant not only provides incredible food for every meal of the day, but it also gives a breathtaking view of the water! Once you’re done eating, you can even walk down to the pier to fish or simply relax. 

The menu here is dedicated to showcasing some classic dishes in the most delicious way. Breakfast options include all your favorite omelets, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and more. For lunch or dinner, go for the seafood combo, fish and chips, sea scallop dinner, Mexican grouper, or any of their other delicious choices. No matter what you pick, you can’t go wrong! 

Rod & Reel Pier is located at 875 North Shore Drive in Anna Maria. They are open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Anna Maria Oyster Bar

For a fun and exciting family-friendly atmosphere, Anna Maria Oyster Bar is the place to be. With a great location on the Historic Bridge Street pier, this establishment provides an excellent view with a fantastic meal. Plus, you can walk to tons of fabulous local shops when you’re done eating!

Choose from a vast selection of oyster preparations here, but if you’re not into oysters, don’t worry! You can also get other delicious seafood options like the grouper sandwich, king crab legs, shrimp and scallops, and more. Want a land option? They’ve got some delicious baby back ribs, burgers, and chicken sandwiches! If someone in your group has a dietary restriction, you’ll be happy to know that this restaurant has a special gluten-free menu as well.

Anna Maria Oyster Bar is located at 200 Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. They are open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Ugly Grouper

You can’t miss The Ugly Grouper while you’re journeying through Holmes Beach! This incredible restaurant has an atmosphere all its own and is a terrific spot for the entire family to enjoy. Come out and enjoy live music every day of the week or play fun games with your family after you’re done eating. Be sure to take your picture with the giant Ugly Grouper statue, too! 

As the name suggests, The Ugly Grouper has all kinds of tasty seafood options, from the grouper sandwich, grouper tacos, coconut shrimp dinner, and mussels fettuccine. There’s also a wide range of land options to choose from, like the Ugly Chicken Chunks, pulled pork sliders, and smoke-house patty melt. You just can’t go wrong!

Hurricane Hanks

Last but certainly not least on our list is Hurricane Hanks, where you’ll find a casual, welcoming atmosphere with a stunning view of the beach.
