While there are several popular eateries to enjoy with some of the best seafood around, there are also tons of restaurants serving global cuisine that are lesser-known but just as delicious! Here are three of our favorite hidden gem restaurants near the Anna Maria Beach Resort.

Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus

For a taste of authentic German cuisine in the heart of Anna Maria Island, visit Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus. The chef and owner have more than 20 years of experience with classic recipes. You’ll come for the food but stay for the company, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Classic offerings like schnitzel, bratwurst, and spätzle are sure to please, and you can’t leave without a delicious Apfelstrudel! Choose an imported beer to complete your meal.

Old Hamburg Schnitzelhaus is located at 3246 East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open Monday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Mr. Bones BBQ

If you’re craving some good barbecue, Mr. Bones is the place to be. An AMI staple since 1992, Mr. Bones BBQ prides themselves on homemade dishes made with the freshest local ingredients and highest quality meats. Even if you don’t eat meat, you’re welcome at Mr. Bones! They have extensive menus that are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free, so no matter your dietary needs, you can enjoy a great, made-from-scratch meal. The people are friendly, the drinks are cold, and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Mr. Bones BBQ is located at 3007 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sundays from 12 – 9 p.m. 

The Island Spice

Get some authentic Indian cuisine at The Island Spice, where everything is made from scratch and will transport you across the ocean with bold flavors. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy, so you can focus on the delicious food. Indian dishes are mouthwatering and healthy, so you can choose from classics like uthappam, chicken tikka masala, or vindaloo. Menu specials constantly rotate, so be sure to ask what’s available when you stop in. There are also plenty of other Asian entrees, as well as a large kids’ menu. Don’t forget about dessert!

The Island Spice is located at 3608 East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12 until 3 p.m. Dinner hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.
